Things I Find Incredibly Chic: Coffee Table Edition

The center of your living room is a perfect place to showcase your story and personality. Here are some of the things I find incredibly chic when displayed on the coffee table.

Board Games: Look for one that is pretty enough to leave out all of the time. It's much more fun to have a quick game because it's already out, and it gives a casual, laid-back vibe. In my house, it's backgammon or gin rummy.

This might seem obvious, but fresh flowers. A low, tight arrangement brings a dash of vibrancy and life to a room that can often feel unused. Fresh flowers say otherwise. Bonus: Flowers make everyone happy.

This is starting to sound like a list of my favorite things! Next up, books. Make sure they show your interests and your personality. Don't just buy the ones that match. Give your guests a peek into your soul.

Something Precious: Bringing in something small and delicate introduces an important scale change and tells me I'm someplace special. Bonus: it invites guests to ask about it, and gives them a chance to get to know you better.

Last, but not least, consider what you don't put on your coffee table. Hiding the coasters, remotes, and other utilitarian items in a drawer or storage box keeps things looking clean and, more importantly, gives everyone a sense of calm.
