More Muted Lovliness:
Benjamin Moore has announced it's Color of the Year for 2025: Cinnamon Slate 2113-40. From the BM website,"This delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown offers enduring style and a modern sensibility."
I love this color. It's the most earthy and muted that a "purple/lavender" can get. I had a dining room painted in a similar shade for over a decade, and I almost duplicated it in our renovated home. It made the room feel intimate and inviting, especially with tonal artwork. Cinnamon Slate is a hard sell, though. Unless you are instantly attracted to this color, you probably won't love it. I went for it in a room that was not used daily, which made me appreciate it even more. I would totally do it again if I hadn't fallen in love with a Cowtan & Tout wallpaper.
I put together a few quick pillows with my textile designs in shades of Cinnamon Slate. I'm thinking about adding linen printed pillows to my shop, so this seemed like a fun exercise. What do you think? Custom printed linen pillows, yes or no? I don't think I'll start with pillows that coordinate with Cinnamon Slate, though. It will be something more livable and universal.
Benjamin Moore has a suggested palette to combine with Cinnamon Slate. Below is my edit. The first color after Cinnamon Slate, called Stained Glass, is a huge color in fashion right now. It's a gorgeous color, and you'll be seeing it for the foreseeable future. If you like a deep ocean blue, you are in luck. Wouldn't it make a magical color drenched room?
Color can be one of the most impactful features in a room. Never be afraid to use a color that you love, but plan accordingly. I always suggest getting samples, and
Samplize makes is super easy. They make large, removable paint swatches that will give you a feel for the color in your home. Want to order the Benjamin Moore 2025 Color of the Year Palette? It's super easy, just head to
